Lütteblüten – Hand-Illustrated Greeting Cards & Stationery from Hamburg

How It All Began – An Idea Between Blossoms and Colored Pencils

I am often asked how I came to combine illustrated figures with real flowers and natural materials.

It all started in 2016 during a vacation in Holland. The weather was changeable, but the garden at the holiday home was full of blossoms – and my younger daughter and I were full of creative energy. In my luggage, I had materials from my fashion illustration courses in Hamburg: hand-drawn figures that I had previously embroidered on fabric and designed with various materials. From this collection and the freshly picked blossoms, my first figurine was spontaneously created – a delicately drawn female figure dressed in real flower petals.

I photographed the little collage and uploaded the image to Instagram. The feedback was overwhelming. From then on, I illustrated new figures every weekend and dressed them with flowers, fruit, and delicate accessories – the foundation for Lütteblüten was laid.

What Does Lütteblüten Mean?

In my studio in Hamburg, I let small and delicate things – North German "lüttes" [ˈlʏtəs] – merge with flowers and plants [ˈblyːtn̩] into unique compositions. The name Lütteblüten combines both: the North German love of detail and the beauty of nature.

"My heart beats for finely drawn illustrations that I decorate with seasonal blossoms or delicate accessories and playfully transform into new creations." — Gabriele Ampt

Inspired by nature, I discovered my passion for drawing early on. In the quiet, idyllic garden of my mother, I found the retreat where the idea matured to give my illustrations their own magic with flowers and plants.

How the Handmade Greeting Cards and Art Prints Are Created

Every motif at Lütteblüten begins with a hand-drawn illustration. I combine these with real objects – seasonal blossoms, fresh fruit, jewelry, or delicate accessories – and arrange them into a three-dimensional collage. I capture the result photographically.

The motifs are printed at a print shop on special 4-layer paper with a colored core, which creates an impressive depth effect and makes each card feel almost tangible. This is how my illustrations become high-quality greeting cards, folding cards with envelopes, art prints on Hahnemühle deckle-edge paper, notebooks, notepads, and calendars – special gifts and small works of art for every occasion.

Sunday Girls and Lüttetiere – The Collections

My fashion collection is titled "Sonntagsmädchen" (Sunday Girls) – because it all started with me designing a new creation every Sunday. The hand-illustrated figurines wear dresses made of real flower petals, herbs, or berries and tell little stories from everyday life and the seasons.

In the process, I discovered that certain flowers and plants are particularly well suited to bringing cute animals to life. This is how the category of Lüttetiere was born – lovingly designed animal illustrations that hold a special place in my collection.

Sustainable Stationery by Conviction

In my design manufactory, I place great emphasis on sustainable production. I use environmentally friendly materials, rely on compostable packaging materials, and pay attention to resource-conserving manufacturing. Because appreciating the beauty of nature also means protecting it.

Featured in Press and Media

Lütteblüten has already been featured in renowned publications, including Feinschmecker, Welt am Sonntag, and Lisa Garten (Hubert Burda Media). The unique technique – the combination of hand illustration with real natural materials – makes every motif a one-of-a-kind piece.
